What can I
do for you?

An experienced and holistic midwife
for homebirths in Berlin

What can I do for you?

I offer the usual range of midwifery services. Most midwives, I think, have one or more specialities in the alternative spectrum of medicine or bodywork. So have I. All basic midwifery services are usually covered by the public health insurance plan. Private insurances are meant to pay all basic maternity services as well. It might be helpful to ask, what exactly is covered. Offers which are more on the alternative side of the spectrum might have to be covered privately. Please ask, so we can discuss it.

  • Labour and Birth

My main professional focus is labour and birth care. I have worked in birth centres in the past. Currently I'm offering homebirths and hospital births (as a "Beleghebamme") for people who cannot birth at home.

  • Antenatal and Postnatal

The care for couples who are planning a home birth usually comes in a package with support through pregnancy, the postnatal phase and breastfeeding.

  • Bodywork and Somatics

I offer massages in pregnancy and postnatal. Also, I do Sexological Bodywork, which is fantastic to accompany all transformational processes around body identity, birth experiences, trauma and everything related to sexuality. You can find out more below or here...

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine

I make use of millenary oriental wisdom, mainly, but not only, of Traditional Chinese Medicine with acupuncture and similar techniques.

  • Evidence-based practice

I have studied midwifery in Cambridge, UK. As an academic midwife, I care about well-done research and keep practice updated according to the best available evidence.

  • Multilingual support

I love learning new languages. The benefit of that is that I am currently attending in any of these languages: Deutsch, English, Español, Português, et Français.

  • My hood

For home birth I cover most of the central parts of Berlin. My post-natal region, however, is more restricted to Prenzlauer Berg, Wedding, Mitte, Pankow, Weißensee, and parts of Friedrichshain.

Berlin Map with my main area of work.

This is roughly my core area for postnatal visits, plus the occasional expedition into neighbouring areas.

I’m happy to offer pregancy and birth care in other areas of Berlin. The postpartum would then have to be covered by a colleague who covers the area.

Capacities

The Berlin rule of thumb for everybody pregnant: Contact your  midwife as soon as you know you’ll need one!

As most midwives, I am planning my capacities six months or longer ahead of time. I’ll try to keep this section updated, if spots become available on shorter notice.

Home births

I still have a few free spots for homebirths (including antenatal and postnatal care) with due dates in June, August and early September 2024, and then from 10th November for the rest of the year.
I will be working most of the summer holidays and also around x-mas.

One-to-one midwife in the hospital (the so-called „Beleghebamme“)

Since October 2023, I can also accompany people with so-called high-risk pregnancies as a 1:1 midwife, a “Beleghebamme,” in the hospital. I have free spots for hospital births in June and early Semptember and from 10th of November onwards.

Post-natal care

I normally offer pregnancy, birth and postpartum care as a holistic package. I very rarely attend families with other birth plans during their postnatal period only, the so-called “Wochenbett.” For people with due dates in November or January living in the districts Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte, Pankow, Wedding and Weißensee can send me a message for „post-natal only.“

If your interested in having me as your midwife, please leave me a message via the contact form or via text message. You find my contact details below.

What people say about my work

“It was an incredibly beautiful time which we will probably never forget.
We were completely satisfied with everything and have no criticism at all.
Thanks for this little piece of eternity that you gave us. Hopefully our next child can be born with you again.”
Caro, 10 days after the birth of her first son.
“When Peter doesn't visit us anymore, it's like cutting another umbilical cord.”
Anna, 2 weeks after her home birth
“My labour was not what I had hoped for and I was really sad my midwife couldn't be with me when my daughter was born. I was still very happy he had prepared me so well. This gave me a lot of security, despite the unexpected progression.”
Martina in her birth afterthoughts
